I’m a creative person by nature and have always been drawn to opportunities that allow me to use problem-solving and innovation to overcome obstacles and create value for the company or team I’m working with. I’m equally comfortable leading teams as with being a key team member and honestly believe that work can be (and should be) as enjoyable as it is challenging.Working within a small team of exceptionally talented individuals at acensium has been rewarding. Managing within a smaller private firm in a niche industry allows us to be nimble and react to market changes quickly, which are traits not typically found in most larger corporations. Blending the latest in Laser-Scanning, 3-D Modeling, AR/VR Simulation software in new ways has put acensium far ahead of the pack, and the culture we develop around innovation continues to fuel our growth.Prior to acensium, I spent 18 years with HF scientific. Entering into the organization as a mechanical engineer, I was tasked with dovetailing technology and industrial design as we developed complex optical instrumentation. Moving from engineering into production management afforded me the opportunity to oversee a large-scale manufacturing operation, while leveraging my creative side to try some new approaches that often led to increased efficiencies and profits. Following that, I moved into general management, allowing me to develop the skills needed to keep the business in a growth mode while meeting corporate initiatives and standards. One of the best aspects of working for HF scientific was the exposure to a truly global market. With over half of sales outside the US, I had the opportunity to travel frequently throughout Europe and Asia as we grew the business. Experiencing and maneuvering within different cultures helped me to grow as a person and a manager.
