ABRS provide a consultative approach to permanent and contract recruitment within Future Media, Technology and Marketing. We were able to offer a full service to include recruitment consultancy, salary advice and executive search. We offer a bespoke recruitment service, which we tailored to individual needs and requirements. I built, and led the Infrastructure Technology division of ABRS, my team and sourced contract and permanent IT Professionals for some fantastic clients across the UK. Areas covered vary from highly technical positions, such as System Engineers/Administrators, DevOps, Network Specialists, Front End, Back End, Web Developers, Technical Consultancy and Technical Architecture, through to Quality Assurance and Support roles.

This role was a blend of Technical Account Management, New Business Generation and Presales.Technical account management, relationship building, upselling, account development, creating presentations, proposals and responding to RFIs and RFPs.Lead generation, market mapping, lead conversion, building processes and schedules around approach, and approach content.Organising and leading meetings, using value-based selling, to gain the relevant information on motivations, pain points, end goals and desired outcomes. In a Presales capacity, most of the above was relevant, with the additional responsibility of attending meetings to assist on the more technical areas of the offering. I also presented, demonstrating compatibility & suitability, communicating highly complex technical systems, to non-technical individuals, of all levels.

A project focused position working with clients for many months at a time. Involved in server and infrastructure projects often with more challenging accounts that are struggling or running behind with projects. These accounts demand a different kind of management, a more friendly, yet organised approach to solving the issues and keeping the contacts happy. In 2009 I was promoted to team leader for the south in 2009. My role remained much the same, with added responsibility of leading a team of 40 engineers of various skill sets and experience.

I led a team of 6, on site at the AON Headquarters in the City of London. We supported a wide variety of hardware and software, including all servers, backup systems, and most storage systems. I was the only server certified Engineer, so in addition to managing the team, I was responsible for all Server infrastructure related issues (under contract). I worked very closely with the client’s technical teams, Systems Administrators, DevOps, and 4th line engineers (AON & EDS employees). My junior team members supported the user facing hardware and software on site: printers, desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

In 2003, after a lot of training, I was given a more senior position joining a team in the City of London. We supported AON, before moving across to A&O Systems and Services (under TUPE). I was promoted to team Lead during this transition.
