Rowan Smy is a sound engineer and music producer, originally from Sydney, Australia. Having spent over a decade in Europe, where he owns and runs Tricone Studios, in Berlin’s famous “Funkhaus” complex, Rowan has had the fortune of working with musicians, engineers and producers from all over the globe. Some of his more memorable experiences include Matt Butler (Paul McCartney), Carla Bozulich, Brian Viglione (Violent Femmes/Dresden Dolls/Nine Inch Nails), Ken Stringfellow (The Posies/R.E.M), Taj Singleton (Bad Brains), Australian bands “ME” and “Other Animals” and icelandic pop group “Nydonsk”.Upon relocation to Los Angeles, Rowan found his place among the nostalgia of the former "Earth, Wind and Fire" studios, known as The Complex. At Studio C, known as "Revival At The Complex" (www.revival.la) he has been fortunate enough to work with artists such as Mary Wilson (The Supremes) and Macy Gray. Rowan also records, mixes, writes and produces for an array of artists from his home studio and Screaming Leopard Studios on the beaches of LA's southbay. His recent recordings here have involved artists such as Scott Shifflett and Jim Lindberg (Pennywise).Crossing over to the field of Voice-over and ADR, in the film and TV industry in both Europe and the USA, Rowan has worked on productions for BBC London, ZDF Germany and Amazon Prime.In Los Angeles, Rowan has also been involved in the construction of studios working for MW Audio Visual. This included the Dolby Certified Atmos room at USCs John Williams Scoring Stage.Rowan is also a vocalist, guitarist and songwriter and does not to limit himself to any one genre.
