Chris Rowell is a Digital Learning Producer at the University of the Arts, London. Previously he was a Academic Developer at London South Bank University, Learning Technology Manager at Regent's University in London, a Lecturer in Economics (1990- 2005) and a Lecturer in Education (2005-2010) at the University Centre Croydon.His research interests are all things to do with Digital Education, more specifically the use and evaluation of social media by staff and students, sharing good practice and Critical Digital Pedagogy.Currently, he is a facilitator for UAL's Creative Online Education series of webinars and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).     During this post I have planned, delivered and coordinated a variety of staff training on all aspects of TEL. The training was varied and included workshops on all aspects of Regent's Virtual Learning Environment, ‘Blackboard’ (adding content, methods of communications, collaboration tools and different types of electronic assignments). Apart from the VLE training I also delivered sessions on ‘new and emerging technologies’ which includes all aspects of social media, such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Wordpress, Blogger etc. I organised weekly ‘show and tell’ sessions where I invited lecturers from inside and out of the University to give demonstrations on individual projects or teaching tools they are using with their students. The final type of training I delivered was broadly based around the use of ‘Open Educational Resources’ (OER’s), I have delivered sessions on ‘Useful Resources for Teaching Research Methods’ and individual subjects such as Business, Film Studies, Psychology and Photography. Also as part of my normal routine at Regents I was invited to give presentations to various groups within University, such as, departmental meetings, Faculty Teaching and Learning Committees, Learning Resources Committee meetings. Here I was asked to demonstrate a new piece of learning technology and give an overview of the alternatives that could address the specific issues being discussed. Again, a good example of this was an invitation to the Psychology's departmental meeting where I gave a presentation on Poll Everywhere, an ‘audience response systems’ that could be used by lecturers to get feedback from students in their lessons.
