INCITE is ALIA's magazine for librarian and information professionals.• Commissioned copy • Oversaw editing and image collection• Reviewed drafts, proofed and finalised for print• Reviewed, recommended and instituted improvements to the magazine design and content

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Researching and writing of the initial proposal to open this store which was Collins Booksellers first superstore• Project managed the concept reporting to a company director • Working closely with architects to design the store, colours, fabrics, shelving and various store concepts. • Purchasing all stock• Design the layout of the store, merchandising • Hiring of all staff • Management of a warehouse offsite to process all the stock, pricing and packing• Buying of all stock, employing staff, marketing, merchandising • Creation of an event schedule. Responsible for event ideas through to running the events in-store and offsite. Events ranged from 30 to 500+ attendees, which were held in-store or at large venues around the cityACHIEVEMENTS• Within two years the superstore won Retailer of the Year • Employed and managed a staff of over 30 people • Instituted a full set of new systems to manage large volumes of stock, staff and sales

During my time with Collins Booksellers I managed a range of branches including their flagship store at Macquarie, Parramatta and the discount Bulk Books store in NSW. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Buying and operations management for numerous branches• Efficient and effective stock management • Employ and train staff• Supervisory role with all NSW and ACT stores, liaising and working with them to maintain successful stock control• Supporting new franchisees learning the business working with shop fitters and store architects to design and project manage the refitting of a number of stores• Seconded to research and report on POS computer systems for company stores, finally recommending a system which was successfully installedACHIEVEMENTS• Worked with designers on a new shop fit out and redesign for both Bulk Books and the Macquarie store• Bulk Books won numerous merchandising awards• Strong growth in sales resulted in a doubling in the size of the Macquarie store• Worked with ABC Enterprises to open the first ABC Centre in Australia within the Macquarie store. This was a great success and contributed to a solid growth in revenue• The Macquarie store under my management went from the bottom third of branch performers to achieving the highest gross profit in the company• The Macquarie store won branch of the year five times in consecutive years• I was seconded to research available POS systems for the company. I wrote a business case for the installation of a recommended system for the board of directors. The recommended system was successfully installed across branches
