First, I am a Nurse - attended North Central College with a Biochemistry and Natural Science degree, then to Rush University, College of Nursing to obtain a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. My experience began as a Staff Nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in the following departments: Edocrinology, Neurology and Neurosurgery. Years later, I returned to Rush University Medical Center as a Staff Nurse in the Department of Psychiatry. Post floor nursing, I gained experience in the Division of Human Resources (Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, Training and Development, Employee Relations) and in the Division of Philanthrophy and Communications (established the department, Physician Referral Service, marketing the 2,500 physicians of the medical center). Many years passed, the family acquired Hotel Baker in 2003. Never thought I would be this involved in the hospitality industry - twenty years and counting.
