In this role, I provide expert counsel to senior management, colleagues, the Planning Board, County Council, and other stakeholders on all planning issues, including, but not limited to, economic development, TOD, zoning, placemaking, and the relationship between land use, transportation, and the environment. I analyze, and prepare reports on, the most complex planning issues facing Prince George's County for a variety of audiences. I continue to lead the Master Plan Evaluation Program and develop the Department's Six-Year Planning Work Program, identifying the status of implementation of our 38 master, sector, and transit district plans and recommending which areas of the County require a planning or zoning interventions. I manage and serve as primary author for Go Prince George's, the County's plan for transforming its transportation network from one of auto-dominance to one that provides multiple convenient, safe, and equitable travel options.

At various times, managed or co-managed the County's efforts to implement transit-oriented development along the Metrorail Green Line and assisted with efforts around the Cheverly Station on the Orange Line. Served as area planner for, and liaison with, the Cities of College Park, Hyattsville, and Mount Rainier and the Towns of Berwyn Heights, Brentwood, Colmar Manor, Cottage City, North Brentwood, Riverdale Park and University Park. Assisted with complex subdivision and zoning applications and as a subject matter expert on the County's overlay zones. Managed the creation of zoning legislation to reduce or eliminate incompatible land uses in areas surrounding Joint Base Andrews and co-managed the rezoning effort that implements this new overlay zone.

Managed the development of regional, county, municipal, and corridor-level transportation and land use plans, livability and sustainability initiatives, and bike/ped/Complete Streets planning efforts for the nation's fifth-largest metropolitan planning region, covering 4,200 square miles, 13 counties, and 384 municipalities, home to 6.6 million people. This included direct oversight over $2.4 million in staff and consultant planning efforts and four planning assistance programs totaling $8 million. Lead a talented team of planners that successfully produced 32 master plans and planning studies, with 23 studies concurrently underway as of December 2013. Created, on my own initiative, the NJTPA Planning for Emerging Centers Program, which provides professional planning and zoning assistance to New Jersey communities seeking to develop land use plans and regulations that encourage transit-oriented and human scale development. Directed the NJTPA's Subregional Studies Program, a $2.7 million planning assistance program that provides technical and financial assistance to 13 counties and two cities to conduct valuable planning studies of critical regional mobility and land use issues. On my own initiative, instituted new program and project management requirements that vastly improved agency oversight, mission-focused use of federal funds, product quality, and interagency coordination. Developed and managed Together North Jersey's Local Government Capacity Grant Program, a $2.25 million technical and financial assistance program that assists member governments in conducting critical participatory, outreach, and analysis activities in support of the region's development of a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development through a grant from the HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program. Represented the NJTPA on a number of steering and technical advisory committees throughout New Jersey, including the New Jersey Transit Village Task Force.
