With more than thirty years of experience in leadership roles, I bring a seasoned eye to complex issues. Over the past three decades plus, my career has taken me to more than thirty countries on five continents. For five years, I served as the Country Director for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. For fifteen years, I served as a Resident Representative for NDI with postings in Serbia, Hungary and Indonesia before leaving to work with Reformasi Weekly Review and other private and public sector clients. I work with senior government officials including heads of state and government, ministers and members of parliament as well as business leaders, civil servants and diplomats at all levels.Having been an accredited international observer to more than twenty-five elections, a high point was when I served as Mission Director for NDI’s election observation mission to Afghanistan’s presidential elections when we deployed more than one hundred observers to almost every corner of the country. My work has often involved working in a conflict or post-conflict environment in Europe and in Asia including Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Timor Leste and Nepal. As an analyst and public speaker, I have focused on the areas of politics, public policy, climate change, security and defence as well as aviation. I have served as a volunteer for more than a decade on the board of Carbonfund.org, a leading climate change organisation. I am member of the ACE Network of Electoral Practitioners, a past Associate at the Centre for Democratic Institutions (CDI) in Australia and a past Fellow at the Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD) in Indonesia.
