Responsible for the operational health of the firm, including finance and HR. This position requires the ability to select, improve and command financial systems that support effective and efficient management of the firm. The DFO must educate, mentor, inspire and listen to the needs of the firm and those that work there. This position also serves as the first point of contact for both personnel and employee relations activities. In the execution of this position, I encounter information of a confidential nature and always maintain that confidentiality, as appropriate to the situation.Primary Accountabilities:• Monitor and/or oversee all fiscal activities for the firm.• Contract review for compliance, insurance requirements, signatory limits, type of documents, billing terms, etc.• Monitor, maintain and recommend financial systems for the firm.• Develop and manage financial processes, training, approaches and expectations for various roles.• Develop, manage, and communicate financial goals and metrics.• Create and communicate ways to meet or exceed financial goals and metrics.• Support the partners in focusing on the work only they can/must do.• Provide guidance to project managers around project budget limits, status and reporting through the systems available.• Serve as point of contact for employee issues and complaints.• Manage and coordinate processes related to HR policies and procedures.• Manage current HR resources and periodically review alternatives.• Determine and manage the appropriate level of financial reporting to the leadership team.• Liaison to our accountant, banker, HR company, and benefit providers• Lead financial check in meetings.

Responsible for maintaining the firm's financial records--from AP/AR to financial statements. I do the billing and meet with each project manager on a monthly basis to discuss their projects' profitability and performance and determine when corrective action needs to be taken. I also hold monthly meetings with the firm's partners to look at the big picture and identify areas that need focusing on. Additionally, I am responsible for the benefits administration and payroll.
