Brief description of our organization:Founded in 1995 in memory of Samantha and Jessica Ramey, Seasons Centre for Grieving Children is a registered Canadian charity that provides peer to peer support groups in a safe, home like atmosphere for participants as they adjust emotionally to regenerate a sense of self and reconstruct their world with other members of the community who are dealing with a similar experience. Seasons Centre can accommodate a maximum of 150 participants per week utilizing the current model of evening groups at the Centre. Groups are organized according to the age of the person; the circumstances surrounding the death and the relationship to the person who has died. Groups are decided on by the need of the community. Our peer support programs can include the following: • Sons and Daughters: death of a parent by accident or illness• Sibs: death of a sibling • Child Survivors of Suicide: death of a parent or sibling by suicide• What About Me: For children living with an immediate family member who has a terminal illness• Teen: death of a parent, sibling or close friend• Young Adult: 19-24 years of age who has had a parent or sibling die• Teen Survivors of Suicide: Death of a parent, sibling or close friend by suicide• Caregivers of the 5 – 12 year olds – who meet simultaneously with their children’s group• Empty Arms: Parents who have had a child die under the age of 24
