My most recent work was at a local ice cream parlor in San Francisco, where I have improved my interpersonal communication skills through providing exceptional customer service. I am also a curious college student, studying statistics, with confident knowledge in Microsoft Excel. I want to eventuallly get a master degree in public healths, with a concentration in biostatistics.As a student, I was introduced to the term "brain drain" in an Asian American studies course. Essentially, this term is used to describe the lost a country, usually a low- and lower-middle-income country, experiences with the emigration of their highly-skilled citizens. Being the daughter to immigrant parents from war torn Vietnam, I want to use my expertise and skills I've gain to minimize the effects of this brain drain phenomenon happening not just in Vietnam, but in the whole Southeast Asian region.Namely, my ultimate goal is to serve all Southeast Asians, both from the region and from the diaspora communities around the world, through addressing and solving Southeast Asian public health problems.
