Was unit secretary for the Outpatient Infusion Clinic. The unit opened on September 4, 2012 with 8 chairs. The unit currently has 12 chairs and averages around 8-12 patients a day. The unit sees mostly chemotherapy patients as well as Rheumatology patients. My job consisted of answering phones, scheduling patients, preparing new patient charts, identifying patients that required port placements, additional lab work, coordinated appointments with doctors appointments and travel, maintained office and medical supplies stocked and ordered as needed, communicated with Patient access and Pharmacy regarding patients, interpreted as needed, prepared letters for patients, directed them to other offices and departments within the hospital system. My job required compassion for patients and their scheduling needs, attention to details regarding the patients plan of care, understanding patients will not feel well most of the time and giving extra care and time can change their day.
