I completed my certification in medical records from University of Phoenix and have become a certified medical billing and coding specialist through the National Health Association. Studying for the CBCS exam and maintaining a 4.0 GPA was 100% self driven and online while fulfilling duties as a stay at home mother. I quickly found a job as a temporary customer service representative for Kaiser Permanente members and was hired as a patient account representative for Datasearch inc., The experience gained on my newfound career path in the healthcare industry has provided many perspectives along with my own has inspired a passionate motivation to helping others understand what they're paying for, financial options, access to resources for care and criteria for financial assistance through hospital and local programs while providing clear communication of insurance benefits and coverage according to each patient's health plan. I have over five years of customer service. My experience includes handling both inbound and outbound calls simultaneously and communication techniques for positive outcomes in conflict resolutions. My outstanding computer literacy allows me to independently repair and solve basic technology problems and easily navigate and optimize use of software. Within the last 9 months I've gained access and have grown used to using systems such as EPIC, IDX, Meditech, Latitude, DialConnection, Microsoft office and more. I can type up to 90 wpm with at least 95% accuracy. I have interpreted physician notes for billing and coding. Studied and trained to be compliant with Federal and Texas law including HIPAA Security Rule and safeguards that protect all electronic health information. This allowed me to guide or go through the proper channels in regards to the release of financial and medical information to family, third parties, attorneys and proper management of accounts, explaining the related charges for services rendered and handling accounts associated with motor vehicle accidents, workman's compensation, veterans affair, the death of a patient, bankruptcy, and disputes. I've assisted with patients' inquires by collecting information for billing, relaying important information about the status of an account, collecting payments, negotiating payment plans and settlements according to the criteria set by the related medical facility, and creating thorough logs of every call for documentation and to promote faster and higher quality of patient assistance and customer service.
