Our mission is to fuel Black prosperity and joy through the activation of capital, resources and culture to support Black founders, Black-led ventures and entrepreneurs of color. We understand there is not ‘one’ blueprint for success, there are many. We’re equipping our founders with the tools to reimagine markets and systems, to collectively build better companies, communities — and most importantly in how to effectively lead and impact the world.

As part of NPR's effort to look at the world of technology and social impact, I have been a contributor and commentator for shows covering diversity in the innovation economy, civic technology and civic innovation and STEM and STEAM opportunities for youth. As a result of my contributions in design, social impact and technology, I was named a "tech innovator" by NPR in their Blacks in Tech and Women in Tech series curated by NPR's Tell Me More.

Cornell Tech’s Public Interest Tech initiative (PiTech) just launched a new Visiting Practitioners program (ViP), in which Cornell Tech students and faculty will glean insights and build relationships with tech leaders from a range of impact-oriented organizations.ViPs will engage with community members in multiple ways throughout the semester, giving talks, offering office hours, and providing feedback on product and business ideas.https://tech.cornell.edu/news/cornell-tech-launches-visiting-practitioners-program-for-public-interest-tech/

The Knight-Lenfest Fund is an independent joint venture formed by the Knight Foundation and the Lenfest Institute for Journalism. It is designed to strengthen local journalism at scale, with a focus on journalistic excellence and serving the information needs of communities in the U.S. Since the Knight-Lenfest Local News Transformation Fund began we have taken a mutual aid approach to journalism where we see news and information as a vehicle for solidarity. This overarching strategic framing was co-designed with a larger community of predominately journalists and publishers of color, investors, artists, researchers and technologists in journalism, media and adjacent industries. We fund and collaborate with Resolve Philly, WURD Radio, WHYY N.I.C.E, Center for Better Gun Violence Report, MING (Media in the Neighborhood Group), The Plug, News Catalyst, Big Picture Alliance, Impacto, Chalkbeat Philadelphia, Germantown Info Hub, Gtown Radio and many more. Focusing on issues ranging fromthe changing nature of work, economic development and wealth creation to the Black & LatinX innovation economies to how reconciliation and repair needs to happen between news orgs and communities - and then some.Just recently the K-L Fund announced a grant to URL Media - a decentralized network of Black-and-Brown-owned media organizations who are changing the game in how community stories are told and how sustainable revenue can be achieved in a collective. We partner with ONA, News Product Alliance, the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education, Media 2070, LION, INN, IPMF and more to provide trainings, workshops, reflection spaces on equitable and justice focused entrepreneurship, product development, what it takes to create new economies and cultures so that journalism can step into a form of true service and care and be sustainable.

Along with my colleague in San Francisco, I oversee all aspects of Matter's accelerator program for early stage entrepreneurs, including curriculum, mentor community, speaker series, workshop design and delivery, coaching, advising, and demo days.Matter is an SF & NYC-based startup accelerator and venture capital firm grounded in the principles of design thinking that supports early-stage media entrepreneurs and mission-aligned media institutions building scalable ventures that make society more informed, inclusive, and empathetic.
