Consistently exceeding expectations to help organisations achieve their business plan goals in a cost effective and timely manner.I am a highly experienced IT leader with a strong blend of managerial, business, people and technical skills developed across a diverse range of industries with unique challenges. I started my career as an electronics engineer maintaining airfield navigation systems in the Royal Air Force and am proud of my service. Over time, the emergence of IT networking became much more of an interesting challenge to pursue. Even after twenty years, there are rarely two days alike and the pace of change we are currently experiencing promises exciting developments ahead. With a background in IT I guess my passion for the nerdier things in life should come as no surprise, I know way too much about Star Wars and have attended Comic-Con far more times than I care to admit! When I have a goal or target, I thoroughly commit until it is achieved. This is most recently demonstrated by the hermit lifestyle I adopted to achieve a Master’s degree with distinction whilst holding down a demanding full time job.Rather than choosing something with a technical or managerial slant, I studied a business strategy degree which comprised modules that are highly relevant to modern business practice. This allowed me to get closer to the business and truly understand what is required from the IT solutions that I deliver. The knowledge that I have gained from this study also enables me to better challenge and influence the business with regards to both operational and strategic matters. I would hope that this adds another string to my bow and that I continue to add value to the business on multiple fronts. Please feel free to connect if you want to share experiences or, indeed, if you just want to test your knowledge of Star Wars against mine!
