My recent experiences in expert witnessing can be summarized below:Regarding patent infringement litigation issues, it takes a team approach to prosecute or defend such a complicated case, including lawyers, expert witness, and business strategists. Essentially the matter may touch many angles, including utility patent technical aspects, patent validity, and litigation strategies, almost like a ball game and which team you belong to. For the formulation expert witness, it is critical that you know the prior art and the technology well. That knowledge and insight can be very valuable. Certainly, the fundamental principle is DO NOT INFRINGE patents, but do you know you’re infringing other’s patent, or your patent being infringed upon by others? It’s complicated and can be costly to the parties in the end.

Just celebrated my 4th anniversary at ADAMA US. Thank you all for the congrats, but I decided to change track this time. So, I moved on. However, I wanted to say that the last four years have been quite an educational experience; a brand-new lab with brand new crew, the team of 3 “musketeers” went through own training and combats together. In the end we delivered the results for the customers, achieved cost savings and solved technical issues of problematic products. I am proud of what we have done for ADAMA!

Agricultural and biopesticides formulation development and industrialization. My job experiences and achievements have been largely a result of many years of on-job-training and opportunities provided by the FOUR good legacy agricultural world-class companies that I associated with, such as the Union Carbide Ag. Products, the French Rhone Poulenc Ag Co., Aventis Ag., and the German Bayer CropScience, to which I am very thankful for. Looking back, I am proud of taking scientific approaches to all the formulation development work, as a Formulation Chemist is not a magician, there got to be a logic or a scientific reason behind a concept formulation to begin with then its industrialization afterward. Like any good army general surveying his battlefield, I know why I am succeeding in my formulations a lot of times, AND occasionally I know why I was defeated by the formulation failure. Therefore, it's time to move on! At this time, I have to admit that Biopesiticides are a big challenge vs. the traditional Chemical Pesticides in formulation development.
