Inspecting and analyzing commercial vehicle fuel injection systems by taking measurements (surface roughness and form; step profiles; roundness and perpendicularity; among others) with metrology equipment such as; Zygo, Talysurf, Talyrond, and Alicona, to the relevant ISO standard.Imaging of components with optical and scanning electron microscopes, and carrying out chemical analysis with EDX/EDAX equipment. Using the SEM for fracture analysis of RBF samples, examining DLC coating defects, identifying debris composition and more.Carrying out flow rate testing of injector nozzles with SonPlas flow rig.Using the measurements and analyses found with the above equipment to compile reports for the development teams.Working with the Materials Team carrying out tensile/compression tests with Zwick testers, HFRR and Karl Fischer titration tests, hardness testing using Qness and Vickers testers, and reporting findings.Qualified Risk Assessor for the Validation Inspection, and Materials departments. Responsible for carrying out PUWER, PPE, Manual Handling, and general risk assessments for both departments. I was fundamental in getting LEV installed in the Materials Department Cutting room.I enjoy the fact that working here has helped with my OU degree studies. Each year, a new module seems to coincide greatly with what I do on a daily basis enhancing my understanding of both work and study.

Set up as a sole trader under the name of RC Proofreading, after completing CMP Proofreading and Copyediting course. Currently working with an online Further Education provider, checking FE course material for functionality, grammar and presentation, using their style guide.Make suggestions and corrections where necessary.Fact check accuracy of content, especially technical material.Good understanding of style guides and able to organise workload, self-motivate, and meet deadlines.This came about as a result of being furloughed due to Covid-19, which was an interesting experience in itself.

Further developed my skills as a TVR technician, becoming more involved with diagnostics, engine work and restorations. I carried out complete restoration/rebuild of a fire-damaged TVR Griffith 500, and a restoration of a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II.When the dealership took on the Lotus franchise, I became a Lotus technician. I learned about different methods of car construction as well as new skills specific to Lotus cars.Achieved Aston Martin ‘Master Technician’ status when the dealership took on the franchise. An important aspect of this was to be able to communicate between various internal departments, as well as Technical Support from the Factory and technicians at other AM garages.Attended factory-based, and on-line training courses.I also applied my skills to many other manufacturers including; Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Morgan, De Tomaso, Pagani and more.I am proud to have worked at this company, and of the things we achieved during my time there.

Technician, servicing and repairing older TVR sports cars, mainly 70s-90s models.Preparing customer’s cars for motorsport/track days. This included fitting roll cages, uprated components, corner-weighting suspension, fire suppression systems, and ensuring compliance with series rules and track regulations. Carrying out customer requests for specific alterations to their car. This could be anything from a suspension/brake upgrade, to a full body-off restoration, roll-cage fitting, to xenon headlight conversions.Liaising with customers and suppliers as part of the day-to-day running of the garage.
