Product/production manager for Unipart Rail in Crewe, within the Projects Cell. My daily tasks include; delivering team briefs, planning workload both in and out of SAP, promoting and running CI activities, ensuring all information is up to date, such as SOPs, risk assessments, KPI’s etc. Within my role I feel as though I am very diverse and flexible as I have taken on a role in another cell whilst maintaining my duties in my area. This has allowed me to learn more about both the business and processes within SAP. Also, I am the certified IPC trainer for Unipart Rail in Crewe, in both the IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 disciplines. It is my duty to ensure that training schedules are planned, relevant colleagues are trained to a high standard and that every colleague who comes to the training leaves with a deep understanding of IPC. Within our cell we strive to be the best, the leanest and the most efficient. Since joining the company and the Projects cell, as a team, we have introduced KPIs, TPMs, Standard Work methodologies, Audits, 5S, Visual Management, Safe Working Practices, MDIs, SOPs, Risk Assessments and many other standards and methods.

I spent the best part of three and a half years working at Bentley Motors Limited and during my time there I gained a vast amount of experience, knowledge and understanding of the company. From working both on and off the production line I learnt to problem solve, working alongside colleagues from Engineering, Logistics, Series Planning and SQA. Through these various experiences I developed a strong initiative, the ability to work with others, to keep a calm demeanor under pressure, leadership qualities and methodical thinking. Along with all of this, I learned to network with trusted and esteemed colleagues, whom I could call upon when an issue arose.Being put forward for the role of team leader within my department helped me to gain an understanding of a leadership role within the company. I was heavily involved with morning briefs on a daily basis, PDI issues, briefing the team, feeding back KPI'sand scores from RFT to audit etc. Quickly learning to think on my feet to solve problems that occur at point of fit, in order to reduce downtime within the zone, became a part of my daily routine as a stand in TL. I found that being put forward for a leadership role was an invaluable learning curve for myself, as I now have a knowledgeable understanding of many problem solving techniques and functions across the organisation;- 8D- Six Sigma- CIP- Ampleblatt- KPI, RFT, DPV, HPU, PDI, CIP, POU, CAF, SOP etc.With my intuitive nature, as well as having a genuine thirst to gain more knowledge and experience on a daily basis, passing my own learning on to others whilst maintaining a high standard of work ethic allowed me to thrive in the workplace.
