With over 20 years experience specifically in the commercial and industrial facility services and maintenance industry, I have learned many things. I have learned that their are many options for service providers. Each with better skills in certain areas than others. Each with different management structures and leadership directions. Many that I have personally worked with and/or hired in my on-site facility maintenance days. This along with direct customer interactions both positive and negative has taught me a lot over the years.I have learned that TRUST is number one above all. TRUST builds relationships and mutually supports long term goals. TRUST must be earned before it's ever given.I've learned that response time and doing what you said you would do are a close tie for second. Coincidentally, consistently achieving these two lead to the number one thing - TRUST.Everyone says they can do the job and most say they can do it better than anyone. You will never hear someone say they are just okay or not capable. With that said, most of our competition focuses on the service part. To me, that's the obvious part and is essential to the very basics of remaining in business. To me, focusing on how service is delivered and the overall customer experience is the most important part and must be top of mind in everything we do.Our mission is simple, to be the best in delivering service, improve the lives and businesses of those we connect with and serve others the way we want to be served. This is the very essence of the "Golden Rule". MATT 7:12

Maintenance TechnicianPrentiss Properties, Inc 1996 - Apr 2000Sacramento, California AreaI was a General Maintenance Technician responsible for services ranging from electrical, plumbing, carpentry, furniture repair, painting, pressure washing, tile repair, etc. Working with a large property management firm I had a wide range of locations, buildings and tenants to serve. During my service with Prentiss Properties I developed a passion for serving others which has helped me develop into the servant leader I am today. Working as a Maintenance Technician was fun and exciting. There was always something different to service the next day – always another tenant/ customer to please. One day I could be replacing a ballast that was making a lamp blink; driving the tenant crazy. On another day I would be repairing a faucet that just wouldn’t stop dripping. To me, the constant change in ways to serve and create raving fans was awesome. I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve had and learned from working with Prentiss Properties.

Day PorterKcs Properties 1994 - 1996In this position I spent most of my time picking up garbage around the buildings I served. Still in high school, I was only able to work part time on the week days and full schedules on the weekends. I can remember my friends at the time making fun of what I did since what I did wasn’t the cleanest job or the easiest. The funny thing was, no matter what they said about the position I was performing – I was always the one with a little extra pocket change and a car which I had the ability to pay insurance on. This was a great experience for me. Picking up trash around buildings, washing windows, cleaning monument signs and removing cobwebs from around the buildings taught me to have an eye for detail. It was also nice to interact with customers walking in and out of the buildings which at times afforded me the opportunity to serve by holding a door open or helping someone carry a box they were struggling with. This was all great stuff that laid the foundation for great character and work ethic. I also believe it’s one reason I’m successful in serving others today and one reason I’m great at leading and teaching the up and coming superstars working for me today. If I could go back and change any of it – I wouldn’t.
