I am a Senior at Colorado School of Mines, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Integrated Circuits and Electronics, and a Minor in Computer Engineering.MotivationsI have always been fascinated by computers. As a kid I loved my parents laptop, playing building games like Minecraft where I could express my creativity and solve problems. I would go on to build my first PC in high-school, the culmination of parts and research that I could mash together and call my own. I have always been a connector. I enjoy being given the pieces, and assembling them into something that performs a task or function. Whether it is dots, resistors, or TO-DO lines of code, I am always most excited by the act of creation, to design something elegant and efficient, something I can be proud of.LanguagesMy education at Mines has been tailored towards Computers, Integrated Circuits, and Embedded Systems. In these topics I find the same kind of excitement I did as a kid, the ability to apply my skills, knowledge, and experience to create clever solutions to systems and problems. Throughout my coursework I have gathered experience in a wide range of programming languages, with several years of experience in C, C++, Python, and MATLAB. I have taken particular interest in Hardware Description Languages and FPGA. I have greatly enjoyed learning and implementing basic Verilog and VHDL, which seem to breach the interface of software and hardware in the most engaging ways.ExperienceI do not have much industry experience, as I struggled to find internships in 2021 and 2022 following the pandemic. I decided to take Summer courses to facilitate my Emphasis and Minor, reducing my workload so I could still graduate in four years. My last internship was at ACZ Laboratories, a local lab in my hometown with the best STEM internships in the area. The two most important skills I developed there were time-management and team skills. The lab was a highly efficient, multi-disciplinary environment with many working parts. I often asked for new and unique tasks to fill my time, and was the only intern given access to the Clean Room by the Production Manager. Being a sample analysis facility, it was also critical that I learn how to work with and support team members. Working in two departments, I realized the importance of great communication and collaborative effort when working for clients.
