  • Tracking Point
    Senior Mechanical Engineer
    Tracking Point Jan 2013 - Jun 2015
    • Principle engineer and system architect for the semi-auto guided trigger for an AR-15 style precision guided rifle. The trigger takes a fire command from the rifle scope to launch the bullet with precise timing to eliminate shooter error. The trigger incorporates a custom actuator, hall sensors, cabling, and drive electronics into an IP-67 housing interfacing through a low-friction shaft seal with custom mechanical components to strike the firing pin. The trigger retains the use of the mechanical safety lever and also allows the shooter to manually fire a bullet. • Worked closely with software and electrical engineers on requirements, system function, debug and integration.• The successful development of the semi-automatic trigger subsystem and transfer to manufacturing allowed the company to log record sales in Q4 of 2014 and a majority of 2015 sales will derive from this product. • Applied the technology of the semi-automatic trigger into a new bolt-action trigger for significant reliability and performance improvements with approximately ~40% cost reduction over the existing bolt-action guided trigger.• Designed multiple calibration and assembly fixtures as well as automated high-cycle test equipment for support of trigger development and manufacturing unit test.
  • Ascendant Engineering Solutions
    Senior Mechanical Engineer
Ascendant Engineering Solutions Jun 2010 - Jan 2013
    Austin, Tx, Us
    • Lead design engineer of high-precision, optical and filter switching assembly for IR sight in military vehicle retrofit• Lead design engineer for a novel, compact, flexure based 2-axis fast steering mirror assembly for high-accuracy laser pointing• Significant engineering design contributions to an ultra-compact, light-weight, inertial stabilized, high-accuracy gimbaled camera assembly with EMI and water seals.• Layout and detail design of weapon mounted thermal optical sights that needed to maintain bore-sight alignment during high shock loads, survive water immersion, temperature cycling, and EMI.• Called upon to improve the reliability and performance of an electronically controlled trigger assembly for hunting rifles. Implemented high-precision Hall sensor design and mechanical enhancements through design and testing.
  • M3 Design
    Mechanical Engineer
    M3 Design May 2004 - Jun 2010
    Round Rock, Tx, Us
    • Conceptualized, architected and engineered an envelope loading and feeding system for a medication packaging machine and transferred to manufacturing. Goals of nurse usability, highly reliability, and serviceability were achieved. • Created a novel 2-speed planetary gear head transmission for rotary orthopedic surgical hand drill for Stryker Medical Corporation.• Conceptualized and designed working prototype of a medical hand drill bit attachment with low wobble and fast tool change.• Redesigned subsystems of an automated hospital bed for reduced cost, safety, and UL approval: including the frame, drive wheel assembly, suspension casters, retracting collision bumpers, electronics layout, cabling bulkheads, mattress inflation system, control panel and fire enclosures.• Designed and high precision web handling assemblies on holographic recording machine.• Designed dual use terminal block for electrical wiring; securing wires with both push insertion and screw terminal. Patent applied.• Created highly integrated ultra precision inkjet head positioning assembly for flat panel display manufacturing equipment. Assembly contains 3 submicron actuators, fluid system, and electronics in compact package. Design became Litrex Corporation, core technology. Patents applied.• Developed elegant design of the high precision inkjet printing array. Directed other engineers in the scale up of this design for 3 different machine sizes. Design became another Litrex, core technology. Patents applied.• Conceptualized and designed assembled overhead free-standing stage that move auxiliary electronics over flat panel processing machine’s head array. Lead team of engineers and designers to project completion.• Developed the electronic layout, airflow, and cable routing for print-head driver electronics.• Created design of server Hard Drive Eject mechanism for Sun Microsystems. Has now become the Universal Hard Drive Carrier throughout all of Sun’s products.
  • Applied Science Fiction
    Mechanical Engineer
    Applied Science Fiction 1999 - 2004
