The mission of the Savannah based CFO/Controllers Council is to provide a trusted and discrete forum for Senior Financial Executives to share best practices and discuss and inform members about business financial and operational issues, legal and regulatory requirements, technology developments, etc. Since it's founding in Feb, 2004 it has grown to over 360 members and meeting attendance averages 50-60. Members get CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credit for the training speakers… Show more The mission of the Savannah based CFO/Controllers Council is to provide a trusted and discrete forum for Senior Financial Executives to share best practices and discuss and inform members about business financial and operational issues, legal and regulatory requirements, technology developments, etc. Since it's founding in Feb, 2004 it has grown to over 360 members and meeting attendance averages 50-60. Members get CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credit for the training speakers provide. I've been priviledged to be a speaker on several occasions. There are two membership categories: 70% are Senior Financial Executives (SFE's) defined as managerial positions involved in the financial decision making of the business such as CEO, President, CFO, Controller, VP-Finance, business owner. 30% of the Council is made up of representatives of "Resource" companies defined as companies that provide services that SFE's may need. Examples of Resource companies would be banks, insurance, investment advisors, lawyers, etc. The Council meets for breakfast on the 4th Tuesday of the month at The Savannah Golf Club. There is no membership fee and the breakfast is paid for by a corporate sponsor. Programs are selected based on an annual survey in the fall to find out what members most want presented in the next year. The Council forwards resumes and job openings submitted by Council members that are finance/accounting related. The Council also awards scholarships to accounting students each year.
