North Slope Theater Manager - Barging Coordinator
Managed between 25 and 40 personnel engaged in land and maritime logistics on a 4 year, $4.2 billion Natural Gas and Condensate project for Worley Parsons Fluor subcontracted under Exxon Mobil. (please Google the Pt. Thomson Project). PRL was tasked with personnel, fuel, equipment, and parts tracking for items originating in Alaska, Korea, and multiple origins in the continental US. PRL worked closely with over 40 additional sub-contractors to ensure timely construction and delivery of critical freight via: barge, tundra transport (Steiger, Rolligon, Rimpull etc..), fixed-wing and rotor aircraft, and semi tractors (ice road). Managed operation of a 5,000 square foot warehouse, and a 16 acre staging pad, tracking items with client-supplied software as well as in-house software. Provided oversight for the warehouse construction, staging pad maintenance, inventory control, snow removal, ice-road vehicle environmental inspections, barging, equipment maintenance, employee training (all positions), performance evaluations, emergency convoy procedures, IT field support, and any ad hoc tasks that materialized. Chaired daily planning briefings and performed liaison functions for any subcontractor performing work on the staging pad. It was not uncommon to have 2-3 subcontractors engaged in work simultaneously, but I once had 7. With Exxon Mobil's laser focus on safety, and the unforgiving environment we occupied, it is with great honor that I share in PRL's success earning the Alaska Oil and Gas Contractor Safety award for 2016.
Camp Manager
Assisted over 100 US military and military contractors as they conducted Terminal High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) test rocketry. Our team was tasked with providing a campsite, billeting, housekeeping, food, plumbing, and communication infrastructure in a remote setting in support of a 90 day test cycle. Being able to meet every need outside specific rocketry-related duties, allowed the client to focus their energies where they were needed most. The details are classified, but there is a nice (brief) article linked below.
Logistics Supervisor
Assisted Anadarko Petroleum Corporation's testing and completion efforts of a natural gas well in the Brooks Range foothills in remote Alaska. The Franklin Bluffs staging pad was attached to the main supply road joining Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks Alaska. All freight to and from the remote well would have to travel an 85 mile snow trail (unimproved tundra with compacted snow on top). The very first few hundred feet would mean crossing a very dangerous main through-fare. I provided cartography and procedural training to all personnel that led to hundreds of safe highway crossings with zero incidents. The Steigers (tundra transport vehicles) were pulling double trailers and could only achieve 2-4 miles per hour across the highway, where it was not uncommon to have semi-tractors approach at 70mph or more. The Steiger fleet accumulated over 25,000 miles of safe travel in that season. Other tasks included: working closely with expeditors in other cities to track and ensure timely delivery of mission-critical supplies and equipment, creating a daily report to be shared with Anadarko Corporate personnel and investment partners, developing spreadsheets for: cost tracking, fuel consumption, fuel hauling, water consumption, waste water hauling, and performing billeting for a 50 man camp. This particular project was relatively small by some standards, but I did manage to find a brief article (linked) from the Anchorage Daily News just a few months before permitting was secure.
Camp Manager
Responsible for setting up, wiring, plumbing, and maintaining a 72 man hard camp at Pt Thomson (PTU 1) in support of ice road and ad hoc maintenance personnel, then moving to KIC Kuparuk pad in support of KIC runway improvement efforts. 90 days later, this was followed by a tear-down, relocation, and set-up at West Sak 24 (7 miles away) in support of general Kuparuk construction activities. My duties were an equal split of hands-on tasks: wiring, plumbing (potable water as well as waste water), maintaining 2 ea 500 kVA Caterpillar generators, operating heavy equipment, logging fuel consumption, amperage draw, writing procedures, constructing As Built diagrams for a potential sale of the camp, improving the camp, maintaining the camp, or repairing the camp. Other duties were administrative: Overseeing billeting staff, housekeeping staff, kitchen staff, conducting training and Human Resources related functions.
