Qualitrol manufacturers and distributes partial discharge monitoring, asset protection equipment and information products for the electrical generation, transmission and distribution industries.* Member of the global R&D team focusing on the development of CBM software solutions.* Researched and implemented analytics in C++, such as bubbling temperature, rate of change, moisture in oil, free water formation temperature and asset health index, for monitoring transformer health.* Demonstrated adaptability by proactively expanding my role in building the GUI and important features, such as range control, deletion of system nodes, communication protocol configuration forms, etc. in C#, using the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) architectural pattern.* Worked in an agile development environment. PowerAnser Labs (PAL) was a joint initiative of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE). The lab conducts research and development of various analytics in power systems including power forecasting and smart grids which are beneficial for the power utility customers. I was a member of the R&D team involved in the development of analytics.My work included * Successfully implemented WAMS analytics such as line parameter estimation, power system oscillation and voltage stability in C++. Tested the analytics with actual Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) data shared by the customer.* Implemented a method for optimal placement of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) in the power grid in C++ for the lab. Achieved by solving a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) optimization problem with the GNU Linear Programming Kit (GLPK) package.* Supported customers by analyzing their issues including research results and software problems like server crashes, and provided solutions for them.

The lab conducts research and development of various analytics in power systems including power forecasting and smart grids which are beneficial for the power utility customers. I was a member of the R&D team involved in the development of analytics for Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS), power forecasting and portfolio optimization.My work included* Researched and developed prediction models using machine learning techniques for forecasting power consumption. Also, worked on the anomalous detection of load profiles. The identified anomalous data are ignored in future training and predictions. * The prototypes or POCs were written in MATLAB/Octave and R. The finalized models were written in C++. Collaborated with TCS members in integrating the models with the UI, testing the algorithms and deployment to the customer.* Presented my results at international conferences.* Associated in the development of the portfolio optimization tool in electricity markets. Built ARIMA models in R for forecasting area electricity prices required for the portfolio optimization.* Implemented analytics for Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS) including the parameter estimation, Matrix-Pencil method for power oscillation analysis and L-indicator method for estimating voltage stability in C++.* Used actual Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) data from customers for testing of the models and analysis of the results.* Met with clients to discuss research results and resolving any software issues.

Also, Worked on the anomalous detection of load profiles. The identified anomalous data are ignored in future training and predictions as their presence in the data results in bad forecasts. * The prototypes or POCs were written in MATLAB/Octave and R. The finalized models were written in C++.
