Deputy Commissioner Office Of Administrative Fair Hearings
• Responsible for ensuring the provision of prompt and impartial administrative hearings, and issuing timely and accurate hearing decisions which review determinations regarding various social services programs; • Supervise a staff of approximately 300 state employees (Hearing Officers and support staff) that:o Receives and process approximately 200,000 fair hearing requests annually;o Schedules approximately 200,000 hearings, conducts approximately 100,000 hearings and issues approximately 50,000 decisions, annually;o Responds to requests from appellants in such hearings for compliance with those decisions, and to inquiries and litigation regarding the conduct of those hearings and the results of specific hearings;• Recruit and train OAH staff, and liaisons with other departments within OTDA, along with other governmental agencies at the federal, state and local level
