First Aid instruction of the following:Forestry First Aid (+F) Forestry Commission endorsed. Ofqual certifiedEmergency First at Work (EFAW) +FFirst at Work (FAW), +FFirst at Work (refresher),Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)Defibrillator training andOxygen therapyI started out in the Armed Forces as a boy soldier at the young age of just fifteen, after six years of service I left the forces and became a fire-fighter for a major strategic airfield. Due to the airfield category being reduced, I was made redundant. I had been contemplating working in the forestry industry for some time and joined the Forestry Commission as a trainee forestry manager. After some years, I left and ventured into a family business and have worked for myself much of my working life. I have always been involved in forestry as a volunteer helping to renovate and maintain our precious ancient woodlands. Probably from my time in the forces I have been drawn to learning beyond the skills of First Aid and volunteered as a Community First Responder with SECAMB ambulance service. I was encouraged to join the service full time, I did. But typically, my timing was perfect! Covid hit our shores and I worked throughout the pandemic. My work / life experience has provided me with a wealth of experience, most have been very good but due to nature of the work some have been sad. With this mixed experience and a desire to 'nip things in the bud' I have trained as a Mental Health Instructor specialising in delivering First Aid courses, this in conjunction delivering specialised first aid for the forestry industry. My vision is to ensure more people than ever can get the help they need in their most difficult times. By delivering engaging first aid courses that build confident, knowledgeable first aiders all over the UK (that last well beyond initial training), we’re bringing that vision to life one booking at a time.

Emergency Care Support WorkerSouth East Coast Ambulance Service Nhs Foundation Trust Aug 2018 - PresentPaddock Wood, England, United KingdomInitially started with SECAMB as a Community First Responder, and then for three years full-time working throughout the whole pandemic period. Relatively speaking this is a short period, however the experience was intense and eye opening. Certainly when visiting Care Homes, the staff were amazing having to deal with some very challenging and emotional times on a daily basis. I have instructed First Aid for several years specialising in Forestry First Aid. -
Mental Health Skill BuilderHopkins-Academy Aug 2015 - PresentMental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a training program designed to help individuals recognise and respond to mental health crises and provide initial support until professional help is obtained. It aims to promote mental health literacy and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. MHFA is often compared to physical first aid, as it provides essential skills and knowledge to assist someone experiencing a mental health problem or a mental health crisis.

First Aid InstructorLand Based First Aid Jan 2015 - PresentSouth UkPrior to joining the Kent Woodland Employment Scheme (KWES), I trained and qualified as a First Aid instructor. During my four years with KWES I delivered standard and specialised first aid training to apprentices and outside contractors. Sadly funding for this very worthwhile charity dried and the board of trustees were forced to make all redundant. Being a very positive person, I am now capitalising on my training and skills and have now started out as an independent trainer under the business name of Land Based First Aid.In addition to standard first aid training, I specialise in the more serious injuries that might occur, certainly those type of injuries experienced in Forestry and Farming or where dangerous equipment is used. Remote working is a challenge for those that work away from the main hub of things, it is very possible that the emergency service might have difficulties in arriving at scene. This could be due to terrain or a casualty being injured deep within a forest or woodland. Emergency procedures for remote workers is an integral and important element of first aid training. My own experience within this profession and in addition to volunteering with the ambulance service helps to bring a bring a practical “on the ground and front-line” perspective to my courses.
