During his career as a graphic designer and creative director of advertising and design agencies, images were a driving force. Kahmann and his wife collecting fine art photography for more than 40 years now. Their vast collection is one of the largest private collections in the Netherlands. The collection inspired Kahmann, besides managing design-agency Het Hoofdbureau (since 1995), publishing companies X-Publishers (e.g. GUP Magazine, Fresh Eyes and NEW Dutch photography talents) and Y-Publishers (The Real Photo Books), to invest in a lot of photography related initiatives.
