Staff Geologist - Eagle Ford Development Pilots TeamConocophillips Jun 2014 - Oct 2015Houston, Texas, UsMember of multidisciplinary team responsible for assessing Stimulated Rock Volume (SRV) and effective drainage volume for a series of pilot projects in ConocoPhillips' Eagle Ford acreage - and recommending aerial/vertical well spacing and completions design for a 2.5 Bboe unconventional development at regular management updates. 1) Analyzed wireline, core and pressure/rate data to assess production trends related to an evolving SRV in multi-well pilots. 2) Built fine-scaled sector models of development pilots in PETREL to facilitate spatial data interpretation, and assist Reservoir Engineering (RE) staff in generating history match.3) Compiled dataset from 150+ pilot wells to illustrate stratigraphic heterogeneity, a key variable for lateral well performance. Correlated geomechanical stratigraphy in a full-field PETREL project (220,000+ acres) to gain insight on SRV dimensions, and ultimately guide vertical well spacing. 4) Designed/led well spacing field exercise, Del Rio Eagle Ford outcrops.5) Mentored less experienced staff and interns. -
Senior Production Geologist - Stones Development TeamShell Dec 2010 - May 2014London, England, GbThe Stones Field (WR-508) is Shell’s flagship project in the emerging outboard Paleogene GoM (Lower Tertiary) play. The project was sanctioned in Q2 2013 and first oil was achieved in 2016.1) Supported decision makers at Select, Define and Final Investment Decision (FID) milestones. 2) Built and maintained static model of the Stones Field, using outcrop analog data to stochastically populate depositional facies and condition core-derived properties. Rebuilt model as reprocessed seismic and appraisal well data became available. 3) Assisted well planning and evaluation for Stones appraisal and development drilling.Provided input for proved reserves estimate required for Group Investment Proposal.4) Assessed competitor developments in Lower Tertiary trend. Participated in multiple data rooms as buyer and seller.5) Coached and mentored new hire(s), and presented workflows in knowledge-sharing efforts.6) Organized Integrated Reservoir Modeling workshop Q4 2013, to standardize and streamline deep water modeling workflows. Secured regional discipline leadership participation, and senior management sponsorship. -
Senior Production Geologist - Nigeria Deep Water Support TeamShell Sep 2010 - Dec 2010London, England, GbErha North is a deep water channelized turbidite oil field (offshore Nigeria) operated by ExxonMobil. First oil 2015.1) Maintained static model, and generated maps of aerial sweep for proposed waterflood development schemes.2) Reduced well count for Erha North Field (non-operated deep water, Nigeria) Phase II development, saving ~$500+ million in CAPEX. -
Business Planner - Global Solutions Upstream, Front-End Studies/AmericasShell Oct 2009 - Aug 2010London, England, GbProvided management support for Global Solutions Upstream, Front-End Studies Americas (one-year assignment), working closely with VP-level management.1) Communicated the business plan and other management directives with technical staff.2) Tracked performance relative to centrally- and locally-mandated targets.3) Maintained database of existing projects with financials4) Delivered competitive intelligence support to global Deep Water and Enhanced Oil Recovery theme leaders. -
Production Geologist - Global Solutions Upstream, Front-End Studies/AmericasShell Jul 2007 - Sep 2009London, England, GbProvided reserves support to Shell Canada for acreage acquired in 2008 Duvernay Oil acquisition.1) Developed stratigraphic correlation framework on narrow timeframe2) Compiled maps for in-place gas volumes in multiple unconventional reservoirs in the Deep Basin, using petrophysical attributes from 1000+ wells Screened Athabasca oil sands region for favorable SAG-D (Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage) acreage based on in-house study of 'top quartile' reservoir characteristics. Matured development of the Peace River/Carmon Creek project, a heavy oil (thermal EOR) asset in northern Alberta, through Select milestone in collaboration with Shell Canada staff. The project was sanctioned in 2013, with first oil expected in 2019 (80,000 bbl/d). 1) Built ~400 mi2 static model within Shell acreage, including implicit baffles based on petrofacies interpretation of high-resolution core photos. Delineated contiguous area of optimal thickness, mobility ratio, base water thickness and vertical permeability for development of 3+ Bbbl resource. 2) Evaluated steam drive (SD) and cyclic steam stimulation (CSS) development options in partnership with RE, by history-matching fine-scaled models of existing Peace River SD/CSS pilots, and simulating element-of-symmetry models for 8 distinct zones within the development area.3) Built model of underlying Paleozoic strata at Peace River, including the Devonian Leduc Formation, to assess feasibility of acid gas disposal and CO2 sequestration consistent with regulatory standards. -
