Motorola Headquarters in Schaumburg writing and maintaining and troubleshooting special automation software packages for use by a customer. Main languages involved are korn and TCL/Expect. Functionality included automatic connections to remote machines, data transfer, running of remote applications and intelligently making decisions based on their output. They also included Informix database backup, recovery, verification, and failover. Currently root (administrator) for 10 machines including Solaris 5.1, 6, and 7; Tandem Non-Stop UX; and Linux. Hardware includes several SUN Ultra Enterprise 3000 and 3500 machines.

W. W. Grainger Data Center in Niles scheduling and monitoring batch schedules running on Solaris and SAP R/3 with AutoSys and SAP GUI, writing problem tickets with Remedy, and contacting Application Support for errors not related to scheduling, assisting as required. Overhauled their entire scheduling system and introduced major changes to their automation and reporting techniques. Tweaked and configured AutoSys application via configurations scripts and Oracle database maintenance/tuning. Performed key role during major disaster recovery. Assisted in the training of employees. Wrote a job stream that will send email and text pager notifications. Worked on porting it to use for integration with Remedy, creating tickets automatically. Created HTML reports from data pulled from the Oracle database using ksh, perl and SQL.
