Kleo Pharmaceuticals is a biotech company spun out of Yale University that is developing novel immunotherapies to address unmet medical needs. Drafted the company business plan, which won the inaugural Boehringer Ingelheim Innovation Prize. Negotiated an exclusive license to commercialize Yale intellectual property for drug development. Secured $13M Series A financing led by Biohaven Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: BHVN) to start operations. Recruited senior management team including CEO and CSO. Negotiated collaboration agreement with PeptiDream (TSE: 4587) to discover and develop novel compounds against multiple targets. Secured $21M Series B financing led by PeptiDream. Recruited research and development team, which advanced and validated two novel technology platforms, Antibody Recruiting Molecules (ARM) and Monoclonal Antibody Therapeutic Enhancers (MATE), oversaw a successful IND filing with the FDA, and commenced phase1/2 human clinical trials. Oversaw the buildout of a new lab space and the establishment of operational protocols for an expanded team. Supported the successful application for a $5M grant from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to fund a novel COVID-19 therapeutic based on the MATE technology.Built the company’s financial operations including strategic planning, financial forecasting and budgeting, cash controls, bank reconciliations, project cost and time tracking, tax filings, and GAAP compliant monthly/quarterly reporting to public company investors. Worked with legal counsel to define IP strategy and prosecute patent filings. Served as a director on the board of directors.
