I started working my very first job when I was 12. Working in the hotel industry as a bellboy, failing school my parents put me to work straight away. From that young age I learnt the art of hard work, I learnt that theres is no work which is “beneath” me. At the age of 15 I found myself leaving my home country (Isle of Man), moving to England and homeless. I found a job and somewhere to live, I then started college, with no GCSE’s or any formal qualification (aside from the blue swimming certificate). After 6+ years of hard graft, three courses and a lot of fun. I have come out with three A-Levels and a Higher National Diploma. Now I am a professional software developer.10+ years of software development, 7 of those professionally, I still continue to work hard. I’m not getting complacent, I’m not slowing down in my career, I’m here to stay and here to make my name. My current focus in software development is working with web technologies, Angular, React, Vue, ASP.NET, WebAPI, NodeJs, ExpressJs, Golang, NGINX, IIS. Using databases such as MySQL, MSSQL, SQLLite and MongoDB. In my spare time I’m playing around with Ionic Framework, Unreal Engine, Unity3D and Android Studio, just starting using Kotlin. Outside of software development, I dabble in 3D modelling, video editing and CGI, photo manipulation and music creation with FL Studio. I am a type 1 diabetic and proud of it. I’ve built a few app’s to help me control and log my condition and try to help on community forums where I can. The next step in my journey is to help others, hosting workshops and tutorials, free of charge for anyone wanting to start a career in web development.
