Plant Engineer

Plan and establish long range manufacturing goals and objectives.Oversee scheduling planning, machine loading, material requirements, raw material management, and achieve maximum utilization of labor, tools and equipment.Expedite rush and special model orders for external customers.Maintain coordinated liaison with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering and sales departments to keep them informed as to schedules, needs and orders.Prepare production analysis charts, job and machine load forecasts, labor forecasts and project completion reports.Establish production schedules, including material procurements, and take necessary action to eliminate delays and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules.Develop production control system enhancements, perform time studies and develop assembly line balancing.Coordinate new model instructions, cycle counting, and manage obsolete inventory.Insure that employees adhere to safe work practices and use proper personal protective equipment.Provide direction and assist facilities maintenance personnel as required for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing facilities equipment.

Instrumental in reducing company loss of revenue by lowering before- and after-cure scrap of passenger car and light truck tires from 1.2 percent to .45 percent, breaking company records on several occasions.Recently developed a decision tree and procedure for recouping non-conforming products, resulting in estimated annual savings of $63,000.Preparation of reports on safety, maintenance downtime, quality, delivery, and cost for use in daily departmental and inter-departmental meetings. Represent department at plant-wide meetings in absence of manager; lead daily briefing with departmental personnel and wage employees. Collaborate with plant staff to achieve high levels of customer service, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.Key contributor to department development, maintenance and review of standard operating procedures, work instructions, record retention policies, and other controlled facilities documents. Perform and direct testing on products; manage and implement departmental industrialization of new products. Study plans and specifications with a view toward potential difficulties and develop methods in advance to overcome them.Provides direction to facilities maintenance personnel as required for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing facilities equipment.

Experience in training others on technical subject matters. Underwent 6 weeks intensive training at company's U.S. headquarters; Implemented new procedures over the course of next few months. Responsible for training a group of 12 electricians and quality technicians in new procedures.Attended Allen-Bradley SLC500 programming course for one week; Perfect attendance two out of three years.; Specialized in Programmable Logic Controllers, repaired electronic boards, dismantled and installed new machinery, A/C & D/C drives and motors, electronic fire systems, plant filtration, and air conditioning. Configured, analyzed, installed, tested and implemented software and interface hardware.Knowledge of repair and safety procedures related to electrical/mechanical systems powered at 12-volt dc, 120-vac, 240-vac, 480-vac, 600-vac 3-phase high voltage current.Troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, modification, inspection, and general maintenance of electrical production equipment. Test for and diagnose malfunctions using test equipment.Proficiency in reading and understanding control, process and wiring schematics, drawings, and test sets to troubleshoot faulty circuits.
