Projects I am involved in: - The characterisation of conditionally immortalised parietal epithelial cells, to study renal pathologies like FSGS.- Establishing an effective transient gene-silencing method in conditionally immortalised parietal epithelial cells, using siRNAs and antisense oligonucleotides.- Determine the role of TRAF1 in the activation of parietal epithelial cells, and the development of sclerosis in the glomerulus of the kidney.- Develop a novel in vitro method to study Alport syndrome - by differentiating patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells into podocytes. This master internship was at the Human Genetics department of the Radboud UMC in the research group Embryonic Development and Mental Retardation of Dr. H. van Bokhoven. I was under the supervision of Dr. E.N. Kouwenhoven and Dr. H. Zhou. Here I studied the role of the ubiquitin chain assembly factor UBE4B on the regulation of transcription factor p63, which plays a role in the development in Ectrodactyly, ectodermal dysplasia, and cleft lip/palate (EEC) syndrome.

My 9 month internship (Bachelor study) was at the Medical Microbiology department of the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences, in the Virology group with Dr. D. Duijsings and Dr. F. van Kuppeveld. During this internship i have studied the role of protein transport, specifically the small GTPase - ADP ribosylation factor, on enteroviral replication.

For My bachelor study I did a 3 month internship at the Pathology department of the Radboud UMC, in the Nefropathology group with Dr. B. Smeets.During this short internship i have studied the role of connective tissue growth factor in the development of focal and segmental glumerulosclerosis in kidney's of transgenic Thy 1.1 mice.

This was the internship for my technician biotechnology study (Gilde Opleidingen). In this internship I started the development of an on site test for farmers. This test detects the level of maternal antibodies in the blood op piglets and determines whether the antibody level is sufficient. I was supervised by G. van de Wetering B.A.Sc.and Dr. W. Schielen at the department of Research and Development.
