About Rozan Nazar

I am a highly skilled senior biomedical scientist working in a blood science laboratory at Clinilabs, covering Haematology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Virology and Special Haemostasis. As a senior, I am responsible for the operative procedures and documentation organisation within the automated Haematology section. Specifically, the tasks this responsibility consists of includes updating SOPs and q-cards, conducting essay, pre-acceptance tests for all reagents, performing and reporting NEQAS (including routing ham, coagulation, Malaria and blood morphology), and ensuring that it’s submitted in sufficient time. I also conduct Audits regularly, which include vertical and horizontal audits for all haematology tests and analysers and the analyser assay audits. As well as this, I am responsible for change control, which includes the validation, verification, calibration and registration of analysers, along with running the QC before use to ensure it is functioning correctly. In addition, the investigation and resolution of problems in the laboratory is an essential duty which I obtain, regardless of whether it has stemmed from other staff members or myself. Such problems or potential conflicts should be approached fairly and respectively, prioritising coming to a solution as soon as possible to enable the laboratory to function adequately and comfortably. A further quality I have acquired as a senior is excellent communication, as it is fundamental that instructions, as well as information concerning samples, analysers or any other component of the laboratory, are comprehended by staff members and myself to avoid preventable incidents that are a consequence of poor communication. Similarly, I also thrive to create a comfortable atmosphere within the laboratory, as it reduces the chance of misinformation, along with mistakes or incidents as a result of a chaotic and high-stress environment. Additionally, within the laboratory at TDL, I also have experience as a training officer, as I have trained numerous BMSs and signed off on their competency. I am also qualified to train staff in EQA and stock monitorisation, as well as all areas of morphology, including Malaria and Microfilaria. Additionally, I also train staff in routing haematology maintenance and authorisation, along with routing coagulation maintenance and authorisation. As a training officer, it is also my responsibility to support staff with registration and specialist portfolios
