My passion and expertise lies in developing and sourcing high-quality water management solutions that contribute to the resilience and future-proofing of cities worldwide. To do so I collaborate with international industry leaders such as Permavoid and DutchBlue, governments and municipalities like the City of Amsterdam and academic institutions like KWR Water Research Institute. My responsibility involves scaling up scientifically proven solutions on a global scale, tailored to the specific needs of each region. Central to my work is the integration of (storm)water management and promoting healthy green environments. Throughout my career, I've been involved in renowned (TKI) projects, including SmartRoof 2.0, which demonstrates the significance of blue-green vegetated rooftops, CitySports, highlighting the impact and potential of naturally cooling synthetic turf sports pitches, and Urban Photosynthesis, providing scientific evidence that combining water-retaining (blue)green roofs with solar panels results in a win-win solution. Additionally, together with amazing teams I've implemented rainwater storage and reuse systems at various stadiums, including those of Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City.I see rainwater as a building block that we must integrate into city infrastructure rather than simply drain it as quickly as possible. By learning to build with water, we can create cities worldwide that are prepared for the future, from healthy city trees to water-retaining, cooling sports fields, from flourishing rooftop gardens to green parking lots and gardens at home. Water is a valuable resource. Let's treat it as such!
