The primary research interest can be described as finding ways into the emerging discipline, New Media, broadly and multidisciplinary, with a focus on games and playable media. This involves developing an integrative framework to bridge the analysis-design-evaluation gaps in gender-inclusivity in games, and producing gender-inclusive design guidelines and libraries of strategies that can be applied to different domains of technology-enhanced applications, such as interactive multimedia, e-learning and mobile applications. The overarching goal is to demonstrate the shared use of the framework in the exchange of research findings within the community, and in addition, for the tools to be adaptable to various domains and available to a wider community of academics and practitioners. Specifically, research in this area extends innovation into the field by creating new designs and methodologies in three main areas:- A framework to enable integration of gender-inclusivity.- Designing tools to assist design of gender-inclusivity.- Measuring tools to enable evaluation of gender-inclusivity.Other areas of interest include game design model construction and validation, game analysis models, analysis of game culture and educational games.Specialties: game design, model construction & validation, serious games, educational games, design research
