Physician graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Social Scientist graduated from the University of São Paulo, with a PhD in Infectious Diseases from UNIFESP / Escola Paulista de Medicina and Specialization in Bioethics from the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. He worked as Coordinator of the CIDEIM Clinical Research Unit (Cali, Colombia) and collaborated with the World Health Organization in Tropical Disease and Vaccine Research Programs (TDR/WHO and IVR / WHO) in monitoring and auditing clinical studies in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. At Instituto Butantan, a public health research institution in Brazil, my duties involved leading the clinical development of new vaccines for different diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and influenza. Most Recently, I act as lead clinical scientific officer for the late clinical development of CoronaVac, Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine, in Brazil including pivotal phase III trial for WHO Emergency Use Listing and a Step-wedge trial for effectiveness. Currently, acting as Clinical Project Lead on the research of innovative vaccines to tackle bacterial disease and antimicrobial resistance at GSK in Siena, Italy.
