Building on the data science portfolio I developed over my two decades at MicroStrategy, I'm pleased to join Business Intelligence Analytics, a Honolulu-based consultancy focused on helping organizations to easily leverage Data Science and Machine Learning for real world applications. What thrills me most is the opportunity to continue working with my partners and BIA founders Charlotte Marciel and Joseph Hawkins, building on our successful track record of deploying predictive analytics to users on the front lines via simple, easy-to-use tools. Led team of software and quality engineers on the implementation and evangelization of data science features for the MicroStrategy platform. In particular, architected and oversaw the implementation of the MicroStrategy R Integration Pack, an open source set of functions implemented in C++ that allowed R analytics to be deployed as regular metrics for on-the-fly training and scoring of predictive models. I also wrote and contributed the MicroStrategyR package to the R Project, the world's leading statistical language for data science.

As leader of TeraCube team that MicroStrategy acquired from Teradata in late 1999, I as served director of the MicroStrategy R&D facility in Carlsbad, CA focused on new product development. I led a team of software engineers and quality engineers responsible for delivery of several MicroStrategy products including OLAP Provider / MDX Adapter (former TeraCube project), MicroStrategy Office, MicroStrategy Web Services and Data Mining Services.

The Data Mining Group (DMG) is an independent, vendor led consortium that develops data mining standards, such as the Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML).PMML is the leading standard for statistical and data mining models and supported by over 20 vendors and organizations. With PMML, it is straightforward to develop a model on one system using one application and deploy the model on another system using another application.

As an engineer focused on platform development, I held a variety of engineering roles ranging from ASIC, board and product development to systems engineering for Teradata’s Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) platform. I began my career building mainframe-class systems as an electrical engineer, including two patents for multiprocessor innovations. Served in a variety of roles with increasing responsibilities including Assistant to the General Manager (1989-90), Parallel Systems Engineering (1991-93), Advanced Development (1993-94), Program Management (1995-96), Systems Realization & Integration (1997), Scalable I/O Engineering (1998) and the Teracube Project (1999) which provided an multidimensional (MDX) interface to the Teradata relational (SQL) database. The TeraCube technology and team was acquired by MicroStrategy in late 1999.
