Bob Petrie is an entrepreneur and executive with a strong record of success spanning more than three decades as the founder and leader of high-performing, innovative risk and insurance technology ventures. Since co-founding Origami Risk in 2009, Bob has served as the company’s President and CEO. Initially established as a Risk Management Information System (RMIS) provider, Origami Risk is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading risk, safety, and insurance Software as a Service (SaaS) technology firms. In addition to expanding solution sets for environmental health and safety (EHS), enterprise risk management (ERM) and governance risk and compliance (GRC), Origami delivers a full suite of insurance core system solutions from a secure, multi-tenant cloud-based platform accessible via web browser and mobile app. Under Bob’s leadership, Origami Risk has built an outstanding reputation for client satisfaction and performance across all areas of its business, for which it has perennially earned the industry’s highest ratings. The firm has a unique and effective collaborative culture, gaining numerous national and local honors for exceptional employee satisfaction and retention. Bob began his career in the late 1980s with global insurance broker Johnson & Higgins. As a Senior Vice President of Risk Management Services, he launched STARS, a RMIS platform to support the firm’s brokers and drive results for its clients. With the acquisition of Johnson & Higgins by Marsh & McLennan in 1997, Bob led STARS to unprecedented growth, orchestrated the acquisition of Corporate Systems and established the combined company, CS STARS LLC as the world’s largest RMIS provider. In addition to leading CS STARS, Bob became Marsh’s Head of Global Operations and Client Technology in 2005. In that role, he was responsible for the technology used by more than 3,000 employees in 11 countries and for all client-facing technology deployed by Marsh around the world. While at Marsh, Bob has also launched other successful technology ventures including STARS Audit, Whereiwork.com and BenefitSmart.com. Bob currently serves as the chairman of Origami Risk’s board and holds board positions at CINC Systems and Adroit General Agency. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Hyde Park Angels. Bob is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.
