Responsible for specifying, designing, analyzing, deploying and maintaining SDSC’s high-performance Linux-based systems, including three large high-performance clusters and their parallel file systems (e.g. the multi-petabyte Data Oasis), as well as the overall operating system environment and associated software.Duties include: * Providing supervisory and technical leadership and business acumen in running the HPC Systems Group. * Supervisor and senior technical expert for the group, and liaison to center/project management and the user communities that the group serves. * Directly supporting research by contributing in the areas of cyberinfrastructure systems architecture and design, technology assessment, and scientific applications. * Identifying emerging technologies, and contributing to the technology evaluation and design for new systems, including key roles on proposals for such systems. * Promoting SDSC’s capabilities, publishing in scholarly journals and conference proceedings, and presenting at national and international meetings.
