I have a very unique background that consists of a Master’s degree in Clinical Behavioral Psychology and work experience as an IT professional since 2000. People often ask me; How does IT and psychology go together? My answer is …. Perfectly. My background allows me to bring a distinctive view to management. I have a passion to bring out the best in an individual. As a manager, I strive to build 2 important aspects of a person so they can provide an amazing experience to our customers. The first is technical skills and the second, which is just as important, is what I call ‘Human’ skills. Technical SkillsAs a manager, it is my duty to ensure the team is successful. The concept of ‘Healthy things grow’ is very dear to my heart. We must always look to improve, fine tune, adapt and move ahead. With forward motion, team members may ‘stumble’ and ‘fall’. I, as the manager, must help them up, encourage them and provide training/skills to ensure they will not falter when facing the same issue again. We want to be at peak productivity.Human SkillsTo provide ‘world class service’ the team must be able to quickly build rapport with the staff they are helping. In order to accomplish this, we work on our Interpersonal communication skills, non-verbal communication and positive interpretation/outlook. The way we interpret and respond to an event is critical for our customers (to connect and reassure them) and for us (to be able to handle stress and feel safe in our work environment).I consider my day successful when I am able to bring a smile to my co-workers face.
