I’m a Forest Engineer by training, specializing in Wood Products and Technology. My main researches experiences were:- Using rice husk, an agriculture residue, as filler in the production of wood-cement panels. I produced and tested wood-cement boards using European and North American standards.- Reusing wood waste from construction and demolition to produce recycled particleboards. I produced and tested particleboards according to Brazilian and European standards. - Using low-grade Appalachian hardwoods to produce Cross Laminated Timber panels. I graded yellow-poplar by visual and non-destructive testing, produced CLT panels with an EPI adhesive, and tested the panels according to North American standards.

Phd Student, Graduate Research Assistant, Student WorkerWest Virginia University Aug 2015 - May 2022Morgantown, West Virginia, United StatesAs a Ph.D. Student, Student worker, and GRA I worked on projects to use Appalachian hardwood species in Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panels. Activities included: • Got familiarized with visual lumber grading systems, NHLA, and NELMA.• Performed nondestructive evaluation of the boards by proof loading and acoustic vibration. • Produced CLT panels with low-grade yellow-poplar and EPA adhesive.• Processed CLT panels into specimen size, using a bandsaw, straight-line rip saw, and circular saw. • Performed bending tests in CLT panels according to PRG-320 (2020) (ASTM D198).• Performed cyclic delamination (bonding evaluation) on CLT panels according to PRG-320 (2020) standard. • Evaluated bending tests using Digital Image Correlation system and used GOM correlate in the analyzes. -
Master Student ResearcherUniversidade Federal Do Paraná Mar 2013 - Feb 2015Curitiba, Paraná, BrazilAs a Master's Student, I focused on my research involving the use of wood residue from demolition and construction to produce particleboards (MDF). During this period, I performed the following research and tasks: • Identify sources of wood waste from the demolition and construction• Recycle wood residue to be used in the production of particleboards• Evaluate particleboards according to European Standards: o EN 310. Wood-based panels: Determination of modulus of elasticity in bending and of bending strength; o EN 317. Particleboards and fiberboards: Determination of swelling in thickness after immersion in water; o EN 319. Particleboards and fiberboards: Determination of tensile strength perpendicular to the plane of the board; o EN 322. Wood-based panels: Determination of moisture content; o EN 323. Wood-based panels: Determination of density.• Evaluate particleboards according to Brazilian Standards: o NBR 14810 – Part 2: Requirements and test methods o NBR 14810 – Part 3: Test methods• Use of Vibro-mechanical methods to produce wood cement composites• Water treatment in Amazonian wood species to be used in the production of wood cement composites• Chemical analyses of Amazonian wood species to be used in the production of wood cement composites• Production of particleboards (MDF) from Amazonian wood species -
Intern And Research AssistantUniversidade Federal De Santa Maria Jan 2009 - Jul 2012Santa Maria, Rio Grande Do Sul, BrazilDuring my undergrad years, I was an intern and research assistant in the Wood Technology Laboratory, focused on the following research activities: • Wood drying• Particleboard production• Wood and lumber characterization
