• Developer on the Branch 1.0 Android app. Built the app from scratch with the founding team, and served as the only Android developer for almost two years. The app achieved a number 1 ranking in the Top Free Apps of Google Play Kenya multiple times. Additionally, it was highly visible in the top Financial apps category for Kenya, Tanzania, and Nigeria at many points in time.• Worked across both the Android and Ruby on Rails codebases to iterate on app features as we expanded to five different countries.• Participated heavily in on-call duties to support our 24 hour service as it operated in other parts of the world.• Participated heavily in the interview process as we grew our engineering team in SF, and eventually in other markets. Also designed multiple coding projects for Android interview candidates.• Co-created an Android framework for enabling server-driven UI, capable of supporting experimentation and UI changes without app updates. This was initially used to drive our onboarding experience and would eventually be adopted by the Investments and Wallets products.• Wrote extensive suite of Espresso and JUnit tests to ensure app stability.• Utilized the MVP and MVVM architecture patterns, and wrote code in both Java and Kotlin.• Made upwards of ten trips to Nairobi, Lagos, and Mumbai over the course of four years to work with our local operations teams and to onboard remote engineers.
