I coordinate the degree on Digital Technology and Sustainable Built Environment at Iscte Sintra, a Higher Education School dedicated to teaching and research of Applied Technologies in key areas.

My main research and work interest is the development of Digital Tools for the Construction Industry (BIM) with an emphasis on the design and operation of sustainable buildings and infrastructure.I have extensive experience in BIM technology implementation, development and training both in research and consulting.

I lead the Structural Engineering courses of the Architecture Masters degree, implementing novel learning strategies to lead students into a greater understanding of shapes and structures, through structural calculus and model building using cardboard, hardware-store materials, pasta, etc. (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/user/rresende).I've recently taken up exploring e-learning strategies (automatic testing and online video) and won an award for this work.

I was involved, among other, in the following works: Venda Nova II cavern, Baixo Sabor dam (discontinuity analysis), Bemposta cavern (characterization of rock mass, blast vibration impact assessement), rehabilitation and reinforcement of the Rossio tunnel in Lisbon (seismic analysis), Leixões harbour deepening (vibration monitoring and modelling of attenuation), Alto Tamega dam (foundation stability).
