The short version: Cloud; Business Intelligence; Technology; Problem Solver; And then…My first thought is typically "how can I solve your problem". Experience has taught me that even though problem solving is my super power, driving straight to the solution from the original problem isn't always the best approach. Taking time to understand what you are trying to achieve before diving in will inevitably improve the outcome. The early part of my career focused on IT – development, implementation, consulting and support -which has given me an extremely powerful understanding of hardware and software capabilities and limitations. In the past 10 years I have pivoted to specialise in data and business intelligence and this is where I have found the right mix of engagement and passion to sustain my development.A summary of my approach to BI touches on these commonly known but often debated concepts:• Less is more – focus on the key insight not on analysis overload• Function over form – visualisation and analysis should deliver something meaningful not just something pretty• Data democracy – the more people with the data the more insights achieved• Iterative development – let’s get something and improve it
