Revere Data was acquired by FactSet and I assumed the role of Senior Java Engineer on the Content Integration team, focused on integrating Revere's unique content and products into the FactSet systems as a new product line. As a first mission-critical project I architected and implemented the Entity Data Management System, a package of internal data processors that integrated the Revere datasets into FactSet's standard datafeeds. This led to quickly monetizing the new product line and these datasets became some of the highest revenue producing products in FactSet's content offerings.I worked on the build out of Revere's DMT data acquisition portal, used internally by FactSet's financial analysts to catalog volumes of financial and economic data feeding the complex data pools underlying the Revere product line. In collaboration with a remote development team I created new versions of the Geographic Revenue product using Java8 and the functional programming paradigm.The primary technologies and tools used in these projects were Linux, Windows, Java, J2EE, Spring, Servlets, Swing, Hibernate, Oracle, Eclipse, Git, Maven, Ansible, Docker, Sonar, Jenkins, Jira and other less notable ones.

In the role of Senior Java Developer for this FinTech startup, I built innovative financial data products, including Revere's disruptive Business Industry Classification, Global Supply Chain Relationships and Geographic Revenue Exposure systems, that provided unique analytics and index solutions for the global financial services industry. These became critical tools used by asset managers for analysis, strategy building and identifying opportunity and risk exposure throughout the global equities and derivatives markets. I developed real-time database synchronization and variable-structured datafeed processors to ingest data from a variety of vendors such as Thomson Reuters, Telekurs, Mondrian and others, using Oracle, MongoDb and RoboMongo.As a side project, I architected and wrote an internal database change management tool, invaluable for coordinating db changes to code changes. This tool is still in use today by the entire development team and has become an integral part of the release management workflow.

I founded this consulting practice to provide product management and software development services in the Digital Entertainment, IPTV, New Media, Mobile and FinTech spaces. Research and work was focused on emerging technologies such at OTT video, Converged Broadband Applications, Rich Media Applications, Crypto Currencies and Blockchain technologies.

With the decision to enter a partnership agreement with Microsoft, Alcatel-Lucent decommissioned its own IPTV Solution and started a joint market venture as Microsoft Mediaroom, a pre-integrated hardware/software IPTV solution thoroughly tested in Alcatel-Lucent labs. Mediaroom helped network operators derive more value from their digital video and network infrastructure investments and provided subscribers with a truly differentiated, better TV experience.I was promoted to the role of Global Technical Product Manager for the strategic partnership and, sitting with the Microsoft product management team, collaborated on strategic planning, business cases and marketing plans to strategically position Mediaroom against global market competition.I drove the development of the joint product product roadmap, guiding and communicating the entire product development lifecycle, and was responsible for communicating client and market requirements to Alcatel-Lucent's product and software engineering teams. As part of this effort I conceived and developed global requirements and release management processes, which were critical to the coordination of global requirements and implementation planning between teams in both companies as well as third-party stakeholders.I acted as prime respondent to RFIs and RFPs, planned and executed customer deployments in cooperation with the joint Microsoft/Alcatel-Lucent Professional Services group, and worked on the release of the MediaRoom ADK, a toolkit for development of TV-centric applications on the platform.

I started with Alcatel-Lucent as a senior software engineer developing Tv-centric applications on their IPTV Open Media Suite platform. These were hybrid http / h264 streaming video apps featuring live broadcast Tv, program guides (EPGs), video on demand (VOD) and embedded settop box components creating the interactive digital Tv experience that today we just call TV. After successful deployments of several customer projects to major network operators, I was promoted to Senior Program / Solution Manager and managed the development lifecycle of the IPTV Open Media Suite product line and solution set while concurrently serving as Deputy Group Manager of Alcatel-Lucent’s North American Solution Center. I managed all major customer deployment projects and services engagements, led the Program Management team and drove engineering and delivery teams in complex deployments. I partnered with the CTO to define and improve product-engineering processes, oversaw resource planning and was responsible for line management of core groups: the Program Management Office, the Tools & Infrastructure group, Configuration Management and the Build and Quality Assurance/Test teams. I supervised 15 direct reports and was appointed a member of Alcatel-Lucent's Leadership Pipeline program.

My time at Liberate was packed full of exciting experience, partly because its small startup precursor originated as a skunk project in bowels of the Oracle corporate campus and was soon touted to be the next Microsoft, another garage to goliath story (spoiler: never happened!). But TV was about to emerge from the dark ages of being a box with a picture tube in it, and few major networks, into a new world of interactive digital entertainment platforms, with thousands of digital channels, access to the web, on-screen program guides, movies you could watch when you wanted, the ability to automatically record and play back your favorite shows, answer your phone right from the TV so you wouldn't have to get up from the couch, and many other crazy ideas. Tv as we know it now.Problem was, how to make it all happen? So I started as a Senior Engineer trying to figure out how to design, develop and deploy these interactive TV systems for major cable network operators throughout the US and Europe, and hopefully make some money for the company to offset the enormous capital investment. I worked on the Professional Services team as technical liaison between customers, Accenture, internal product management and engineering teams, while coding and deploying the custom Tv applications the clients wanted. Google the gory details, but just to say, I played a key role in deploying some of the world’s first interactive TV systems, including cool stuff like Electronic Program Guides, TVecommerce portals, TVmail, TVchat, Video-on-Demand, Unified Messaging, TVgames, Broadcast-triggered Advertising and LDAP-based Viewer Management frameworks. I added credibility to Liberate's products and solutions after earning recognition as a digital TV subject matter expert. I was honored as the company’s Top Producer of Consulting Services Revenue for 3 consecutive years and was a member of the exclusive “swat team” consisting of Liberate's top 3 PS engineers who knew how to do it for TV.

As part of IBM's Global Services team, I accepted an assignment in Wellington, New Zealand to try to rescue the ill-fated INSIS project done for the New Zealand government and police. I worked on the development of a new Distributed Directory System, a redesigned, multi-tier, early big-data system using the DCE distributed object architecture to provide data mining and analytics for the government's agency data distributed across a wide range of non-compatible systems.As front-end work, I designed and implemented a new DCE-enabled, multi-threaded Windows client using IBM’s Visual Age C++, Visual Builder and Open Class Library using Authenticated RPC to create an Operations Workstation portal for data mining query, analysis and display.
