Within the Body Engineering SMT, I released a wide variety of components for bumper systems and closures (injection molded painted and chrome-plated plastic, compression-molded polymer, stamped sheet metal, extrusions and functional hardware) across multiple architectures, including two generations of GM’s first autonomous vehicle for Cruise Automation and most recently, in the battery electric truck and SUV portfolio.

Managed the Quality Assurance Network, inspection standards and inspection-related manpower for all NAFTA assembly plants. Directed and managed special projects related to warranty spikes. Assisted plants with quality KPI goal-setting and strategy. Certified as the company’s lead internal ISO 9001:2008 auditor (quality management systems).

Managed a team of 17 engineers and supervisors during the launch of the 2015 Chrysler 200, during which time my team successfully undertook numerous initiatives:- Reorganized and streamlined inspection locations and standards for more value-added data tracking- Revamped repair processes, streamlined repair validation and created a rapid feedback system/reaction process for high-severity or high-occurrence defects- Completed Kaizen projects totaling $1.5M in plant savings

Trained and managed a team of two supervisors and one engineer during second shift production. Monitored and communicated quality metrics to area managers. Contained known and potential quality issues via certification and yard holds. Implemented systems to mistake-proof processes conductive to higher quality throughput. Continually scrutinized inspection standards and best practices. Data revealed that, during my time as a QC shift lead, warranty from trucks built on my shift was 38% better than those built on first shift and 48% better than those built on third shift.

Led initiatives to strategize warranty reduction and disseminated critical data to plant staff daily. Collected, parsed and prioritized dozens of quality metrics into the Quality Assurance Matrix, allowing staff to strategize how to best use World Class Manufacturing / Kaizen tools to attack critical issues throughout the plant. Submitted 22 Kaizen projects for improving QA Matrix data extraction and stratification.

Compiled, analyzed and constructed quality metrics into critical reports for plant management. Championed certification holds and release criteria. Managed over 100 yard holds encompassing thousands of vehicles in conjunction with the launch of the 2013 Ram 1500. Saved over $300,000 through Kaizen projects aimed at warranty reduction.

Resident expert for all interior components and HVAC systems. Facilitated engineering changes and breakpoints. Defined inspection criteria for quality spills based on part requirements and tolerances. Saved over $200,000 through Kaizen projects aimed at design and process improvements.

Supervised a team of 21 UAW quality inspectors stationed throughout body-in-white, paint shop and general assembly.
