Responsible for ensuring that Carmarthenshire’s revised Local Development Plan (LDP) was built on sustainability principles and complies with environmental and sustainability policies and legislation. This ranged from assessing impacts on the environment from development through Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) and Sustainability Appraisal (SA) of each stage of the revised LDP, to broader impacts on the Welsh language, jobs and social cohesion. In addition to this, I also led on the creation of a Green Infrastructure Strategy, with the aim of protecting and enhancing green public spaces for the purpose of ensuring the public have access to high quality recreation spaces to improve health and wellbeing, as well as contributing to the mitigation of climate change and biodiversity loss. This involved engaging with a number of departments across the council, as well as regulators and the local health board, as well as coordination of funding bids. The assessment was carried out using QGIS to collate and verify information from a number of sources, with an output of a comprehensive Green Infrastructure map for the County.

As an EIA Researcher for Tidal Lagoon Power I undertook vital research to inform mitigation and monitoring strategies for Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay, and to increase the knowledge base for the Environmental Impact Assessments for future lagoons. As Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay is a 'first of a kind' project, it creates a unique opportunity for in-situ environmental study of tidal range technology and therefore the documentation of effects and impacts is vital. I was also involved in writing a 'Sabellaria Translocation Strategy' which was to be implemented as part of the innovative Adaptive Environmental Management Plan (AEMP) proposed by TLSB over the lifetime of the project.
