My main project was to analyse deferral data for the Rumaila Oilfield in Iraq, and make recommendations to improve deferral tracking in the future. As Rumaila is a joint-venture incorporating BP, PetroChina and the Southern Oil Company, working alongside external partners gave me exposure to associated challenges and also opportunities to learn. My work produced significant and enduring impacts on both the commercial and technical aspects of field management, with my deferral data cited in a review letter to the Government of Iraq. Additional work included the preparation of statements of requests (SoRs) for wellwork (e.g. water shutoffs, reperforations), and investigating the relationship between well surveillance activities and rig-workovers.
