Helping people has always been my number one priority and passion. As a RISE Engineer at Stryker, I had the opportunity to explore the many facets of the medical device industry while growing a unique skillset to make me successful in this challenging industry. Through my experience there, I learned how to utilize my unique skillset and found my home in manufacturing engineering. While my education taught me the hard skills of biomedical engineering- signal processing, instrumentation, and laboratory techniques included- my experiences outside of class best prepared me to solve real world problems. I spent five weeks in Ghana helping to create sustainable STEM education in schools and work with young women to ensure they have access to clean menstrual products. This experience not only taught me about how to complete projects in the face of adversity, but also what is truly means to help someone. Changing lives isn't always curing cancer or ending poverty- it can be ensuring that a group of students receive an education that fosters their passions for years to come. My job experiences include my past positions as head coach at the Physics Learning Center, student assistant at the University Archives, learning facilitator for the Pavlis Honors College, and Field Manager for the Fund for Equality, Mechanical Design Engineer within the RISE Program at Stryker. All of these experiences have taught me valuable interpersonal, time management, and leadership skills to ensure I can put everything I have into my future efforts and succeed. My success is not limited to the future, however. Throughout my time at Michigan Technological University, I was on Dean's List every semester and became a Gilman Scholar for my work in Ghana. Beyond that, I received the Rookie and Excellence in Work awards for my efforts in the University Archives and worked on the first place team at the Stryker Engineering Competition.
